Introduction

Serge graduated in 1996 at the Ship Hydromechanics Department of Delft University of Technology with a Master's thesis on the dynamic stability and manoeuvring of planing ships. He has worked at MARIN since first in the Ships Manoeuvring Department with main tasks the development and improvement of mathematical manoeuvring models for surface ships and submarines and the assessment of the manoeuvrability of ships using simulations and model tests. He was actively involved in commercial projects for about eight years.Since 2007 Serge has been working at the RD department of MARIN and finished his PhD in 2011 on the practical application of CFD for the manoeuvring of ships. For several years he was Research Coordinator for Manoeuvring and Nautical Studies and is the Team leader of the RD CFD development team.
