Back in 2012, I earned a BSc in Physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and graduated with a thesis on the topic of shockwave formation inside a trumpet. After which, I moved to the Netherlands and enrolled in the master program of the University of Twente in the field of fluid mechanics. Here, I joined the prestigious Physics of Fluids (PoF) group chaired by Prof. Detlef Lohse and graduated with a MSc degree in 2014 on the topic of explosive boiling inside a small capillary. Shortly after, I started my doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Detlef Lohse and Prof. Chao Sun on the topic of multiphase drag reduction in wall-bounded flows. Specifically, I looked at the drag reduction generated by vapor bubbles in Taylor-Couette flow. After completing my doctoral studies in 2018, I joined MARIN where my main focus of research is still multiphase flows, albeit in a different context & wave impacts in cryogenic containment systems. Under the SLING research program, I currently do experimental work on wave impacts in the Atmosphere (ATM) facility. This state-of-the art facility allows us to expose wave to extreme conditions of temperature, pressure and gas composition. As a consequence, we can study the impact loads generated by these waves as a function of the gas-to-liquid density ratio, (liquid/gas) compressibility and even phase transition! Besides research, my interests lie in playing music, film and bouldering. Interested to hear more about my research& Get in touch!
