Over the years significant progress has been made in the prediction of cavitation behaviour using a combination of calculation and model tests. However, as Jan-Bart Verkuyl reports, scale effects continue to complicate predictions, so full-scale cavitation observations are indispensable for the evaluation of a propeller design, for troubleshooting and for the interpretation of model tests.
