Offshore floating solar is emerging as a promising technology to diversify the renewable energy mix. However, ensuring the survivability of these systems in harsh offshore conditions remains a key challenge. MARIN is actively contributing to the development and validation of offshore solar concepts through wave basin testing, numerical simulations, and field monitoring.
On October 28, from 12:00 to 13:00 CET, MARIN will host a webinar to share the latest insights from two ongoing EU-funded projects: the BAMBOO Project and Surewave. During the session, William Otto, Senior Project Manager Offshore, will present findings on platform motions and interconnector loads across different platform and array sizes. His presentation will combine analytical formulations, wave diffraction calculations, and results from wave basin testing. Following this, Tim Bunnik, Senior Researcher at MARIN’s R&D department, will showcase numerical results for a 2MWp offshore solar farm concept protected by a floating breakwater ring.
This webinar is a valuable opportunity for professionals in offshore renewable energy, engineering, and research to gain a deeper understanding of the hydrodynamic behavior of floating solar systems.
