To stimulate innovation in the Dutch maritime sector, MARIN has launched the 2026 call for Small & Medium Enterprises (MKB) to test new maritime concepts free of charge. This initiative lowers the threshold for SMEs to validate and improve their ideas in an early development phase.
Selected projects (up to four) will receive:
Two weeks of free basin time in either the MARIN Concept Basin or Shallow Water Basin (including 80 basin hours and support from a qualified test engineer).
A one-day workshop with an experienced MARIN Project Manager and Project Engineer to discuss the concept and test approach.
This offer, valued at approximately €40,000 per project, is not a government subsidy but a direct contribution from MARIN to support maritime innovation. Participants may bring their own models and conduct tests independently, or request additional support from MARIN at regular rates.
The 2026 call closes on December 31, 2025. For more information, conditions, and the application form, visit www.marin.nl/mkb. Enrico Della Valentina is ready to dive in and explore the possibilities!
