Two examples are given of the application of viscous-flow computations in hull-form design at MARIN. In the first part of the paper it is demonstrated how the modification of the afterbody of a single-screw cargo-container vessel can result in a significant improvement of the design, using both model and full-scale computations prior to model testing.
