
Join MARIN’s Defence CFD team to advance maritime technology that boosts maritime naval safety and supports a sustainable future at sea.
Who will be your colleagues?
You will join the Underwater Systems team within MARIN’s Defence department, working alongside more than 30 dedicated professionals, project managers and specialists, who are committed to strengthening naval capability and ensuring safety at sea. MARIN plays a key role in this mission by combining in-depth hydrodynamic expertise with knowledge of energy systems, human-machine interaction, and command & control of unmanned platforms. We apply this integrated expertise in innovative projects for (international) shipyards, government agencies, international partners, and the wider maritime industry.
What will you do?
As a CFD Specialist at MARIN, you’ll take on challenging research and consultancy projects for the maritime sector, both nationally and internationally. You’ll solve complex hydrodynamic problems, run advanced simulations, and turn results into actionable insights for clients. You’ll also drive innovation in commercial projects by automating workflows and exploring new CFD applications to expand our modelling capabilities. With your creativity, you’ll help transform cutting-edge R&D into practical solutions that make a real impact.
Who are we looking for:
We are looking for a curious and motivated colleague with a Master’s or PhD in Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar technical field. You recognize yourself in the following qualities:
- Experience in applying CFD software, with a solid foundation in viscous hydrodynamics.
- Preferably, experience with Rhinoceros, Hexpress, Paraview and Python.
- Strong problem-solving skills and perseverance; you take initiative and pursue solutions until the problem is resolved, while also collaborating effectively in a team.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset, you can clearly report on and present complex technical topics.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
