Innovation Fridays is for everyone working on an innovation contributing to ‘Better Ships, Blue Oceans: clean, smart and safe shipping and sustainable use of the sea’ may apply, regardless of the size or location of their company.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
MARIN will select colleagues with specialist knowledge and expertise based on the short description of the innovation provided in your application. These colleagues will be your independent sparring partners on an Innovation Friday at our facilities. We can discuss any specific questions you might have and give feedback on things that might be overlooked or need further attention - all with the intention to help your innovation succeed.QUICK FEEDBACK ON KEY ASPECTS
We will focus on the key aspects of your innovation. We will start with a basic first principle analysis and will evaluate the working principles with independent ‘back of the envelope calculations’. We will work closely together with you of course, to make sure we benefit from your own analysis and to create a mutual understanding of the working principles. After establishing the working principles, we could perform either a few short tests in our basin on your own scale model, a couple of conceptual simulator runs or a brief maritime traffic and safety evaluation.Contact

WORK ON THE WAY FORWARD
The final point on the agenda of Innovation Friday will be the way forward. Together, we will make an inventory of the actions that are required for your innovation to succeed and identify possible partners and funding schemes. MARIN has a large network in the industry, academia, research institutes and government. When the next steps do not directly require the expertise of MARIN, we will naturally advise you that it is not necessary to use our paid services. Our experts will objectively support you to map out a plan, which might or might not involve MARIN.WHY MARIN?
MARIN has more than 90 years of experience in maritime research, covering all fields such as resistance and propulsion of ships; seakeeping and manoeuvring; offshore operations, (renewable) energy production and installation. As an independent research institute we are a non-profit foundation. We are not looking for a commercial stake in your innovation, nor do we have any stakes in the innovations of your competitors. MARIN is an independent, objective sparring partner. You don’t need to worry about a possible conflict of interest. Your intellectual property stays yours, and we will treat your innovation confidentially.Challenge us !
