This paper presents a partitioned strong coupling fluid-structure interaction approach in a finite volume setting. The implementation is discussed in detail. To verify the implementation, a benchmark problem is solved and results are compared with results from a compressible flow method and results from the literature. To demonstrate the potential of the method, preliminary results for the simulation of the flow around a non-rigid riser are shown.
