Enhancements in Monte Carlo Simulation in SafeTrans 5

This paper describes the enhancements and capabilities of the recently overhauled SafeTrans voyage design tool released in 2011. The use of the program for design of weather-routed transports is rapidly increasing. In such applications the simulation of the ship master’s decisions is essential. The ongoing efforts to optimise the Captain’s Decision Mimic and the methodology used in SafeTrans 5 for assessing critical marine transport voyages / cases will also be discussed.
