This paper is addressed to the characterisation of slamming loads acting on fast monohull vessels, gathering the results of several years of research in numerical simulation, model-scale and full-scale measurements. As a case study attention was focused on a large fast ferry designed and built by Fincantieri. Extensive model-tests were carried out by MARIN within the framework of the BE III Project SEAWORTH. In the first year of service of the ship a monitoring campaign was further performed by CETENA collecting full-scale data on ship motions, stresses and slamming pressures.
