More and more ships are equipped with devices to capture wind to their advantage. To get past the stage of pioneering, good standard performance predictions are needed for the overall system of the ship with equipment. Therefore we launched the WiSP3 project. Investigating effects of unsteady conditions on wind assist devices and the propulsion train will be part of this two-year project. Overall focus will be on standardisation of performance predictions and updates for the regulatory framework, including EEDI, EEXI and CII.

In previous projects we already explored aerodynamic interactions, developed transparent performed prediction methods and reviewed some rules and regulations. Some of the new questions that arose are subject of our new research.

The kick-off meeting of WiSP3 will take place on 12 April 2024 in Venice, during the BlueWeek 2024.
Early bird rates to participante are valid until April 1, 2024.
