Technology only for boys? Absolutely not! We want to show that technical functions are also very suitable for girls on March 30, during the national Girls' Day. On that day 25 girls from primary school De Vlinderboom in Ede will visit MARIN for an extensive tour, a meet & greet with our female colleagues and ... they will of course do an experiment themselves in one of our test basins! Do you also want to know why working in technology is so much fun? Then watch the video from our colleague @Linda Kemp, project manager at MARIN.
Why is Girls' Day so important?
Only 14 percent of technical professionals in the Netherlands are women. Gender stereotypes, the lack of role models and a limited view of technical education and professions play a major role in this. To change this, VHTO has created the Girls' Day. Girls' Day is an annual event where thousands of girls visit companies in science, technology and IT. On this day girls between 10 and 15 years old are encouraged to immerse themselves in the world of technology.
