Zero Emission Waterborne Transport

Guilhem Gaillarde | Keynote presentation

Implementing zero-emission waterborne transport requires much more than introducing new vessel technologies. It involves a complete ecosystem including energy supply, harbour infrastructure, operational profiles definition, transport demand, costs, and environmental conditions. To support decision-making, we developed a dynamic techno-economic model allowing authorities, policy makers, fleet owners, and industry stakeholders to simulate and evaluate different transition scenarios over time for specific maritime and inland waterway regions. Examples of potential zero emission ferry transport for the Wadden islands in the North of the Netherlands or for the connection between islands in Greece will be given.
