We are pleased to invite you to the PPS DIGITAL TWIN demo on June 24, featuring a dedicated experimental setup and expert insights to advance digital twin technology in the maritime domain.
Background
In recent years, the maritime industry has seen a strong growth in interest in digital twins: digital representations of physical assets that combine numerical models with real-time data. These digital twins have the potential to support the full lifecycle of maritime systems - from concept and design to operations - enabling faster, safer, and more cost-effective projects while optimising asset performance and lifetime.
The PPS DIGITAL TWIN project brings together MARIN and industry partners to explore these challenges and demonstrate how digital twins can be applied in practice.
In this project, we focus on:
Connecting simulation models, sensor data and algorithms into one integrated system
Demonstrating continuous synchronization between the physical and virtual system
Developing and testing building blocks for integration, connectivity and usability
Gaining insight into the challenges and limitations of digital twin implementations
To make the concept tangible, the project has developed an experimental testbed coupled with a simulation environment. Starting from a simplified but representative case - a pendulum - the project focuses on the integration and synchronization of the different components, providing a clear and controlled setup to demonstrate how a digital twin works in practice.
Programme
Join us for the demonstration in the Shallow Water Basin, where you can experience the digital twin testbed in action and learn more about the system and its underlying concepts. We also invite you to share your perspective during an interactive brainstorm session to exchange ideas and discuss future directions for digital twins in the maritime domain.
