Together with a growing network of partners, the Maritime AI Innovation Lab is developing smart, fast and sustainable AI solutions for the maritime sector. The first two innovation tracks are now well underway, and the third track has recently been launched.
Following the successful AI Innovation Event in February, organisations are once again invited to join new consortia on 28 September 2026 and to propose new innovation tracks aligned with their strategic ambitions. During this AI Innovation Event, you will collaborate with leading stakeholders from within and beyond the maritime sector, co-create short and agile innovation cycles that rapidly turn ideas into solutions, and contribute to shaping the future roadmap for maritime AI innovation.
Current Innovation Tracks
Track 1 – Safety & Workability Machine learning models for real-time predictions and short-term MSI forecasts, improving the safety and efficiency of offshore operations. Track 2 – Emission Reduction AI-driven fuel optimisation and emission reduction under realistic operational conditions. Track 3 – Coupled and Robust AI Surrogate-based Design Optimisation Replacing static (single design-speed) optimisation with operational profile-driven system design.
Preliminary Programme
Welcome (08:30–09:00) Maritime AI Innovation Lab – update AIC4NL – introduction & background Track 1 update – Safety & Workability Track 2 update – Emission Reduction Track 3 update – Coupled and Robust AI Surrogate-based Design Optimisation Coffee break Pitch marathon for new companies Pitch marathon for Track X Lunch Track consortium workshop Exploration phase & Definition phase Wrap-up & follow-up Networking drinks (from approximately 16:30)
Pitch Marathon & Track X
During the pitch marathon, new companies will have the opportunity to present themselves in a 3-minute pitch. During Track X, participants can propose ideas for potential new tracks to be further developed at the next AI Innovation Event. During the first pitch marathon for Track X, new track topics emerged, including:
Multi-vessel systems
Collaborative systems
Remote operations
Wind-assisted propulsion
Interested?
Register by sending an email to Tobias van Dijk. Please indicate whether you would like to present during the pitch marathon and/or to participate in Track X. Registration is open until Friday 11 September 2026.
