Are you an experienced strongly skilled people manager who preferably has a background in working on a Vessel and can take your growing team of technical experts, projectmanagers and researchers from services to consultancy on board for a wide range of shipowners? Are you an experienced Teamleader Ship Performance Management who is also familiar with analysing ship data that has to do everything with performance of the vessel and data about resistance, sustainability, alternative fuels, energy efficiency? Who are your colleagues?

We are looking for a Teamleader Ship Performance Management for the OBS team at our department Performance at Sea (PaS). We have four teams at PaS. This team is four people strong and we are expanding with five new colleagues. This requires the necessary people management skills and leadership to take the team from services to the operation phase on board. That is why we are looking for a Teamleader Performance Management with extensive experience in ship operational performance. In addition, we also see our Teamleaders grow in the complexity of the issues they tackle that need to be overarching. Examples are International partnerships, improvement processes and tooling, etc. We are an innovative teams that constantly will be looking at new technologies, such as alternative fuels, for example battery systems, fuel cells and wind-assisted propulsion to offer potential for ship applications. PaS lifts ships to a higher level through auto controlled hydrofoils, creates new land at sea with floating islands and develops new methods and knowledge towards zero emission shipping and sustainable use of the seas to keep our MARIN mission in mind, which is ‘ Better Ships, Blue Oceans’.

What are you going to do?
The biggest priority for our new Teamleader Ship Performance Management is to form a strong team, to develop services to improve performance during the operation phase and to set out lines of what knowledge and tools we as MARIN need to develop with our partners.
Your team has a key role in our services on board and is active worldwide. At Performance at Sea (PaS), we ensure that ships, structures and crews can operate cleanly, smartly and safely in their daily practice. To this end we measure, troubleshoot, develop algorithms and onboard advice solutions and train crews in their usage. Your leadership is based on your technical expertise of ship operational performance and people management skills. The role involves guiding your growing team to acquire new projects and deliver project results as well as working closely with other team leaders to manage project resources.

What are we looking for?
  • An experienced candidate with a Master degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • Your knowledge and work experience contain a mix of relevant onboard responsibilities, fleet performance manager/analyst and people management.
  • As a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, you also bring a good understanding of modern IT technology.
  • You should also have a good command of the English language and be willing to learn Dutch if it is not your native language.
