Are you looking forward to have impact with your software on the mission of MARIN? Join our team!
What are you going to do? You will join our team Software Engineering within the R&D department. This team develops software used within MARIN to support its scientific work and operational workflows. You will select or develop standardised frameworks to be used by colleagues throughout the organisation. Based on those frameworks, you will, together with other teams, set up prototypes for new software tools. Thereafter, you will (re)develop such prototypes into viable products, which you will also maintain. You will be developing software in different software development stacks and languages, such as Python, C#, C++, and web technologies like React.
Who are we looking for? An enthusiastic colleague with a degree in software engineering (or similar) and an affinity with computational applications. You have developed an agile mind set and are flexible in applying different software development stacks. Working in various teams energises you and your communication skills are excellent. You should also have a good command of the English language and be willing to learn Dutch if that is not your mother tongue. Initiating improvements and new developments comes naturally to you and you have a keen eye for relevant developments in the field of software development.
What do we offer? You will work at MARIN, an independent and globally recognized top institute in hydrodynamic and nautical research. MARIN’s mission is to make shipping cleaner, smarter and safer and to contribute to the sustainable use of ports, waterways and the sea. You will develop software in a highly technical environment and your deliverables will have a direct impact in achieving our mission. It will be easy to meet key players within MARIN because of its horizontal organisation and open-door culture. You will join a fairly small team and you will co-operate with various experts in fields like hydrodynamics, workflow improvement and HPC cluster.
