Who are your colleagues? We are looking for a Projectmanager Operational Performance (Ships) for the OBS team at our department Performance at Sea (PaS). We have four teams at PaS. This OBS team is four people strong and we are expanding with five new colleagues. We encourage our people to grow in the complexity of the issues they tackle. Examples are International partnerships, improvement of processes and tooling, etc. We are an innovative team that constantly will be looking at new technologies, such as alternative fuels, for example battery systems, fuel cells and wind-assisted propulsion to offer potential for ship applications. PaSlift ships to a higher level through auto controlled hydrofoils, create new land at sea with floating islands and develop new methods and knowledge towards zero emission shipping and sustainable use of the seasto keep our MARIN mission in mind, which is ‘ Better Ships, Blue Oceans’.
What are you going to do? As a Projectmanager and expert in the Performance at Sea (PaS) department, you will use your theoretical knowledge and practical experience at sea to advise our customers on how to improve the operational performance on board of the ships. Our goal is to realize the mission of ships and offshore structures in realistic operational conditions. We are shifting from theoretical design conditions to actually clean, smart and safe use at sea, in ports and on waterways. The ships and constructions have been developed and the next question is how to get the most out of them. We go from a focus on measuring on board as feedback on the design, to a focus on advising in the operational phase to improve the performance. This is another new challenge for the Performance at Sea (PaS) department. We also measure, troubleshoot and develop algorithms and systems and train crews onboard in their usage. You will be the first point of contact for our clients onboard.
The role involves drawing-up project proposals for our clients to reduce fuel consumption and maximise the operational range, manage power, propulsion and energy systems and secure the cargo on board. Other tasks involve initiating international cooperation projects to tackle overarching performance issues on board. With different teams you will manage projects, both from our office and onboard of our customers’ ships. As an expert your role will be to guide people within MARIN and work with fleet performance analysists of ship-owners, developing knowledge and tools to improve the performance through operational data and to introduce onboard advice solutions.
