General Information
MARIN has extensive experience in research and measurements on fishing vessels. The services MARIN can provide include model tests to improve performance of the vessels, but also measuring shaft power on board of fishing vessels in operation.

Services & Activities
MARIN has been involved in studies investigating the motions of fishing vessels in waves, in projects for optimisation of ship resistance and propulsion.
The MARIN Trials & Monitoring department performs power measurements on board of fishing vessels.

Fishing vessels are tested in the following MARIN facilities:
- Seakeeping and Manoeuvring Basin: Model tests in combined wind and waves
- Deepwater Towing Basin: resistance and propulsion tests
For shaft power measurements on board fishing vessels four experienced and dedicated instrumentation engineers are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Using the experience gained over many years, the MARIN crew is capable of instrumenting, measuring and sealing a vessel within 4 hours, leading to minimum downtime for the shipowner. If required the engine can be sealed by MARIN after the shaft power has been established. The location of the seals on the engine is defined by the independent engineering firm and reported in a sealing report.
