General information
MARIN has an ongoing Research and Development programme which implements improvements from lessons learnt, and which exploits the rapidly changing simulation technology base to bring increased functionality and increased fidelity to the simulated environment.
Recently MARIN has started with the implementation of special visualisation software, which so far has only been used in the computer game industry. The new technology allows special effects such as light breaking, mirroring, shadowing, the use of spray, foam, 3D fog, smoke, fire, snow etc.
In the mean time, all knowledge acquired by MARIN in general, Powering, Manoeuvring & Seakeeping and Trials & Monitoring, is constantly studied for possible implementation into the simulation software whereby the constant development of the ship models is guaranteed.
All new models and features are extensively tested in order to make sure that our clients receive stable and reliable software.

Facilities & Tools
The Project Team Simulator of MSiG consists of a group of highly qualified software engineers with vast experience in real-time simulation software. The team has various test and development facilities using state of the art technology.
As a basis for simulator design, the Mermaid 500 software is used.
