Proof of Confidence by DNV
On February 1, 2008 Det Norske Veritas AS (Norway) has handed over the “Statement of Compliance” and “Product Type” certificate to MARIN.
This means that both the Bridge Operation Simulator and the Full mission Bridge Simulator (with MERMAID500 software), comply with the newest DNV 2.14 standard for Maritime simulators (Oct, 2007). The DNV standard is closely related to STCW (Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping, www.stcw.org).
Late 2007 MARIN embarked on this process because of an increase in demand and at the same time a solid recognition within the maritime community of the new standard as a valuable statement.
