The application of viscous-flow solver PARNASSOS has achieved an important milestone. For the first time, MARIN carried out more than 100 commercial computations within one calendar year, representing over 40 projects.
PARNASSOS provides detailed information on the velocity and pressure field around a hull, which are used to judge the quality of the wake field, the possible occurrence of flow separation, the alignment of appendices and the scale effects on these. Given the increasing interest for CFD methods, we expect that the application of PARNASSOS will quickly become a daily routine.
Viscous effects on wave making is a subject that will become available for commercial application in the near future.
