JIP meetings ‘CresT’ and ‘Current Affairs’ on April 27 in Houston
MARIN has initiated two Joint Industry Projects: ‘CresT’ and ‘Current Affairs’. As we had a positive response on both JIP initiatives, we will organise informative meetings of both JIPs on Friday April 27 in Houston (Friday before the OTC, being the last day of the FPSO JIP week). The meetings will be held in the Omni Houston Hotel, Four Riverway (see also www.fpsoforum.com). Both JIPs address issues that have shown to be important in our field recently.

April 27, 9:00-12:00 am
Friday morning 9:00-12:00 am: ‘Current Affairs’ JIP. Objective: ‘To develop tools and guidelines to assist engineers in the assessment of current effects in the different design stages.' The project addresses both mono-hull (FPSOs) and multi column floaters. Beside the development of a fast semi-empirical current load estimation tool, a benchmark study will be carried out with state of the art CFD codes against dedicated model tests. Guidelines will be developed how to use CFD in the determination of current induced loads and motions.

Friday afternoon 1:00-4:00 pm: ‘CresT’ JIP (Cooperative Research on Extreme Seas and their impacT). This JIP has the following objective: ‘To develop models for realistic extreme waves and a design methodology for the loading and response of floating platforms’. To reach this objective, a strong cooperation is arranged between metocean specialists, wave modelling experts, hydrodynamicists and reliability specialists.
