Greenwater concept: using Offshore knowledge for wave energy

MARIN recently developed the ‘Green Water’ wave energy concept, by making use of the experience and tools developed for offshore hydrodynamics. It was based on ‘inverse engineering’: instead of reducing the motions and green water, the concept maximises the motions and green water as a means of extracting energy from the waves. Last week the demo model tests gave positive results.

The ‘Green water concept’ is developed as a vehicle for open discussion and exchange of ideas in this interesting field. Therefore, MARIN would like to develop it further with partners from the offshore and shipbuilding industry in the ‘RENEW-ABLE’ project: ‘Research and Engineering in the Netherlands on Energy from Waves, to enABLE innovative use of maritime and offshore knowledge in this field’.

In view of target group the background information is in Dutch only.
