From 9-13 November Chevron & Bureau Veritas hosted the 24 FPSO JIP Week & Forum in San Francisco which was visited by 160 R&D specialists from the offshore industry.
During this event 12 joint industry projects addressing marine, structural and mooring issues in FPSO development held their progress meetings.
The FPSO Research Forum, an open meeting on the wednesday, had as theme "FLNG Marine Issues". Speakers from BV, Chevron and GTT presented the latests research on LNG sloshing. Also Structural Health Monitoring was adressed. Moffatt& Nichol and MARIN contributed on the subject of the availalbility of LNG-terminals.
In the afternoon session new JIP initiatives were presented: TRUST (thruster interaction effects), ROPES (effect of passing ships on berthed vessels), SYROPE (synthetic mooring lines) CFO (Cylindrical Floater Offloading).
The 25th FPSO JIP Week & Forum wil be hosted by Nobel Denton in Aberdeen in the 3rd week of April 2010.
